News: Farm Advisors- Strengthening their Future Role in Agricultural Innovation & Sustainability
The last big event of the AgriLink project was an on-line conference held on 10-12th November. With more than 270 participants registered, the conference provided a virtual meeting place for conversation and active debate about the opportunities for strengthening the future role of farm advisors in agricultural innovation and sustainability.

The results of AgriLink’s 4 year long programme of work were clearly and concisely presented in a flexible format with lots of opportunity for interaction between participants and presenters. The conference also hosted a webinar that was organised jointly between the AgriLink project and the UN Food and Agriculture Organisation (FAO) on the theme of “Extension and advisory services for the empowerment of small and family farmers: Addressing the digital divide”.
All presentations and recordings of the sessions are available on-line here: https://www.agrilink2020.eu/conference/.
“We are very pleased with the results of our work together in AgriLink”, said Pierre Labarthe (project coordinator), “Even if at times it was a challenge to understand and explore this very dynamic and diverse landscape of advisory systems in Europe. Nonetheless, we believe that our recommendations will be a great help for the future of farming, especially since they come at a time when the EU member States are finalizing their CAP Strategic Plans for 2023-2017”.

The audience of the conference was between 100-150 people per session proving again that on-line events can be very effective, although the social interaction of live events continues to be greatly missed.
The policy recommendations from the AgriLink project will be made available soon on the project website (www.agrilink2020.eu) together with all other project results. All project information will continue to be available online for 10 years on a ‘legacy’ website that will be launched soon.
